Also known as 70/- ( 70 shilling), Scottish Heavy is a slightly bigger version of the Scottish Light. The beer fits into a similar slot as the English Ordinary Bitter, albeit slightly weaker, darker, and more malt forward due to lower hopping. A cooler fermentation results in lower levels of fruity esters as well.

This is a pale copper to brown ale, generally clear, and with a low off white head. Expect medium malt and a bit of caramel on the nose, with some light toasty graham cracker notes and some very low apple or pear fruitiness. Hops here are light to none. The body is the low end of medium, a bit creamy, and with low carbonation. The flavours are decidedly malty, with a toasty quality and some caramel and toffee. There is enough bitterness and roasty character to keep it from being overly sweet, but the finish remains on the malt side
