Pours an clear  amber to copper colour with a low, off white head that lasts for a bit and then fades.  Look for medium level of malt, neutral foremost but with undertones of caramel or toast.  Hops tend to be pretty low here, but at any level are going to be that earthy floral profile typical of the isles.  The body is in the medium range, and  carbonation is medium as well.  It is a smooth drink.  The flavour is malt focused, light caramel, occasionally light toffee, and if diacetyl levels are high enough, some slight butter.  Hops are light and often not noticeable.  The light roasted grain background and medium bitterness leads into a dry finish.
