Minestrone Soup and Munich
Helles

Minestrone.  It is a soup for sure, but with a plethora of regional variations. In theory, this pairing should work with most iterations, but for clarity, we are talking about the classic minestrone. Vegetables, small pasta shapes, potatoes, and beans in a vegetable and tomato based broth. This pairing is easy. Munich Helles Lager.

Why does it work?

The floral herbal quality of the subtle hops elevates the soup without changing it, and the intensities match, with neither fighting for the upper hand.  Foremost though, is the malt.  Bready malt is what we want because we want bread with our soup.

Highlights

  • Floral herbal hops add a faint accent to the soup
  • Bread and soup
